FREE WEEKEND IN HOUSTON (APRIL 4-6)!!!


CHEAP AND FREE THINGS TO DO IN HOUSTON THIS WEEKENED!!

 

 

FRIDAY: Why not learn Improv?? — Take FREE Improv class, thanks to Station Theater’s Intro to Improv every Friday, 7:30 pm. All Intro students are then invited to stay to watch Supernova Armando show for FREE ($6 value), a fast-paced comedy show with a guest monologist. Located at 1230 Houston Ave.

Blow some bubbles: 3rd annual Bubblefest in the Heights Saturday at 11 am. The day feature all  things bubbles including bubble pits, bubble games, bubble food, bubble contests, and music. This is geared to children age 3-11! Located at Hogg Middle School Spark Park. Sponsored by the Vineyard Church of Houston. Not positive about the food cost.

 

Houston Center for Contemporary CraftCraft family fun — Create a beaded bracelet at the next Hands-On Houston April 5th 11 am – 3 pm, at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Families will make a charm or bracelet, patterned in South African Zulu traditional beadwork. Free monthly crafts are held the first Saturday of each month at 4848 Main Street.

 

Imitate the pioneer days — Not free, but just $1 (cheap for all this fun!)– The 29th annual Folk Life Festival recreates the lives of pioneers in the late 1800s through demonstrations and activities Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm. Walk the nature trail, visit the duck pond, and learn about Texas history through pioneer cooking, Texas cowboy camp, blacksmith demonstrations, and early soldier reenactments. Lots of hands-on activities including rag doll making, weaving, corn husk doll making, tin punching and calligraphy. Located at the Katy Outdoor Learning Center, 6301 S. Stadium Lane in Katy.

 

Support local artists – The First Saturday Arts Market returns Saturday, 11 am – 6 pm. This monthly outdoor market in the Heights features original art, music, and fun. Located at 548 W. 19th on the Wind Water Gallery parking lot.

 

Engage in family fun — Don’t miss the Frost Bank Family Fun Day Saturday, 11 am – 1 pm in The Woodlands. The free family event includes crafts from The Woodlands Children’s Museum and original music from Houston’s own Leah White. Located at The Woodlands Financial Center, 10767 Kuykendahl.

 

Celebrate your pets at The United Pet Expo!! This FREE event, April 5, features agility demonstrations, entertainment stage, pet costume contest, discount vaccinations, microchipping, plus the mega-adoption event. Shop at more than 100 exhibitors and rescue groups. The Pet Expo is at Reliant Center, 10 am– 6 pm.  Pets are welcome, with shot records. Admission is free with $10 cash parking.

 

Party with your doggy! — The 5th annual Doggy Party on the Plaza returns to City Centre Saturday, noon – 5 pm. The event features music, giveaways, more than 75 pet providers, the Dog & Owner costume contest, and owner/pet look-a-like contest, street artists, raffles and more. Local celebrities will be on hand to judge and announce events.

 

Celebrate Spring! — It’s an Easter “Egg”stravaganza Harmony, Saturday at a master-planned community in Spring. The events from 9 am to noon include complimentary breakfast in the Village Builders model home, pictures with the Easter Bunny, plus face painting, arts and crafts, contests and a D.J. Located Rayford Road at Riley Fuzzel Road.

 

Watch a movie under the moon — Movie Night on the Strand in Galveston returns Saturday, 7 pm. The week’s movie features The Maltese Falcon (1941). This free movie is held the first Saturday of each month. Located at Saengerfest Park, 2300 Strand.

 

Enjoy music outdoors — Live at Night at Waterway Square continues for the spring season Saturday, 6 pm – 8 pm. girl Friday will perform at this special event in The Woodlands. Located between Timberloch Place and Lake Robbins Drive. Prices vary for parking in the area.

 

Browse creative art!! — The Market @ Mid Main returns the first Sunday each month, 10 am – 4 pm, in the spring and fall. Enjoy live music, crafts, food, vintage purveyors, independent artisans and more!!

 

Enjoy an outdoor movie! — Head downtown for a free outdoor movie at Market Square Park. So I Married an Axe Murderer is the free flick this month beginning at 8 pm, thanks to Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow. Market Square Park is located at 301 Milam.

 

Jam to the music!! — The popular Concert in the Park returns every Sunday in April in The Woodlands, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. This weekend features a giant Easter egg hunt and music provided by The Fab 5. Bring your camera for a photo with the Easter Bunny and a basket for eggs. Located at 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive in The Woodlands.
