Free Easter egg hunts around Houston area

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There are dozens of egg hunts over the next couple weekends that your children can take part in at no cost.
West University Place Recreation Fields
Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Children up to age 11 are invited to West U's Easter Spring celebration with the Easter bunny and Wally the Walrus.

Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Come play in a 7.5 acre old-fashioned Family Fun Park! Visit the petting zoo, mini golf course, Western play town, play fort, huge playground, gigantic sandbox, zip line, sand volleyball, horseshoes, kid sized rockwall and much more. Healthy family fun that kids love! They will have a gigantic egg hunt! Tickets may be purchased for pictures with the Easter Bunny, pony rides, hayrides, the barrel car train, face-painting, food, and more.

Kids can hunt Easter eggs in the maze of The Orange Show Monument along with oranges and other fun prizes. Children who crafted a marshmallow masterpiece with Peeps will be entered into a contest with gift cards and prizes for the top winners! A $5 donation is suggested per child for this nonprofit's foundation.

This huge event features egg scrambles, characters, carnival tent, activities with Radio Disney crew, foam pit, football toss and more. The first 200 families can get a free photo with the Easter Bunny. Special needs children and those under four can particiapte in a continuous egg hunt throughout the day. Don't miss the 30 golden eggs to represent 30 years of this event!

All ages are welcome at Eggpalooza's afternoon of fun including an egg dash plus sidewalk chalk, tie-dying, dyeing Easter eggs, sand art, face painting and more. Egg dash times: 3:15 p.m. (1-4 year olds), 3:45 p.m. (5-8 year olds), 4:15 p.m. (9-12 year olds).

George Ranch will travel back in time to present an Old-Fashioned Easter. Participate in a traditional egg roll in the 1830s, decorate eggs the old-fashioned way with natural dyes at the 1860s Ryon Home, and join the 1890s Victorian Egg Hunt at the Davis Mansion. The annual Easter lunch will be held in the George Yard and will have a 1930s twist. This annual event is included with general admission; however, there is a charge for the Historic Lunch. Price $13.50 (Adults ages 13+) $10 for children (ages 5-12 ) $4 for children 4 and under.

The annual Easter in the Gardens makes its way back to Moody Gardens. Kids ages 12 and under are invited to this free event to search for the golden eggs in the egg hunt. A variety of activities will be offered for all ages beginning at 11 a.m., such as face painting and games for prizes, as well as a petting zoo. Easter egg hunts are scheduled throughout the day and separated by age groups.
